Dance Dress Code

General Notes

Dance shoes should NEVER be worn outside of the studio. 

Always wear street shoes to and from The Center.

Street clothes are not allowed in class.

Underwear is not meant to be worn with tights and leotards. 

Label all clothing and shoes.

No dangle-y jewelry may be worn in class.

Hair must be pulled back from face in a ponytail for all classes and a bun for all ballet classes.

Sparkles & Jewels combo classes

Shoes........Pink ballet slippers and either tan jazz shoes or tan Mary Jane tap shoes 

             (depends on class) 

Tights........Ballet pink convertible

Leotard......Any solid color

Ballet

Shoes........Pink ballet slippers (split soled for Levels 1–Elite) ties tucked in

Tights........Ballet pink convertible

Leotard......Any solid color (Sparkles, Jewels, Levels 1 & 2); Black (Levels 3, 4 and Elite)

Other.........No skirts for Levels 1-3

Jazz

Shoes........Tan split-sole, slip-on

Tights........Tan convertible or leggings

Leotard......Solid color leotard

Other.........Booty shorts or leggings 

Contemporary and Lyrical

Shoes........No shoes, barefoot 

Tights........Tan convertible or leggings

Leotard......Solid color leotard

Other.........Booty shorts or leggings 

Irish

Shoes........Irish ghillies*

Tights........Leggings

Leotard......Solid color leotard

Other.........Booty shorts or leggings 

*Please visit DanceIrish.com and purchase Antonia Pacelli loop or essential ghillies. Please be sure to look at the sizing chart. In general sizing is approximately 4 sizes smaller than street shoes. Shoes are meant to be extremely tight! 

Tap

Shoes........Tan lace-up oxfords (Levels 1–4); tan Mary Janes (Sparkles & Jewels)

Tights........Tan convertible or leggings

Leotard......Solid color leotard

Other.........Booty shorts or leggings

Hip-Hop

Shoes........Flat-soled sneakers (black preferred)

Leotard........Any style or crop top

Bottoms.....Baggy pants or sweatpants
